Apartment towers old and new, Beltline area of Calgary
In the east part of the Beltline area (Victoria Park), close to downtown Calgary.
I used to call these "condo towers," but in recent years there has been a depressed or reduced market in Calgary for the buying of condo apartments, and many builders/owners have switched to old-fashioned monthly rentals or yearly leases in order to fill the suites in the buildings. (Office buildings are having similar trouble: approx. 30% vacancy rate downtown. These troubles are the result of a local economic recession caused by recent years of low oil prices in a city that is the headquarters of the Canadian petroleum industry.)
