Small blocks of ice stacked along the surface of the Bow River
Scale: in the middle of the photo, most of these blocks are about 20-30 cm wide and 5-10 cm thick. The current here is from right to left. Note the preferred orientation (imbrication, dipping/sloping to the right, the upriver direction) of many of the platy blocks and sheets of ice. A few dark pieces of wood and tree bark are present.
