General Examen for year 2013 - Examen of Consciousness
Please join me in praying the general EXAMEN for year 2013.
Ignatian Examen of Consciousness
1. I thank the Lord for bountiful blessings received. I thank the Lord also for the many challenges I have to face this year. Thank you Lord for making me a better person because of those blessings and challenges.
2. I bring to mind all those significant events for the year 2013. What makes them significant? Identify the dominant feelings for each of the event. How did I become more like Christ in those events?
3. As I look forward for the year 2014, what are the things that I need to pray for and to do so as I can know Christ more clearly, love Him more dearly and to follow Him more closely?
4. I end my prayer by thanking God for journeying with me and say the "Prayer for Detachment." The prayer attributed to a new Jesuit saint, Saint Peter Faber:
I beg you, O Lord,
to remove anything which separates
me from you, or you from me.
Remove anything that makes me unworthy
of your sight, your control,
your reprehension;
of your speech and conversation,
of your benevolence and love.
Cast from me every evil
that stands in the way of my seeing you,
hearing, tasting, savoring, and touching you,
fearing and being mindful of you;
knowing, trusting, loving,
and possessing you;
being conscious of your presence
and, as far as may be, enjoying you.
This is what I ask for myself
and earnestly desire from you.
Amen.
Happy Ignatian New Year everyone !!!
