Woodrup - A break over the Peripherique
The Woodrup had provided me with a comfortable ride from Dieppe to Versailles. I'd benefitted from shaking it down thoroughly in training beforehand and having been fitted professionally. It had run fault free on the first stage of a charity ride in France that would ultimately end in Avignon - a 6 day expedition in total. Perhaps next year for the last 5 days or will it be the Eroica? Now pictured resting over the Peripherique on my return to Blighty from Versailles via Gare du Nord and the wonders of Eurostar.
I was surprised to find out just how hilly Paris really was. Some of hilliest terrain on the journey was in the hills around St Cloud ( in the clouds as its name suggests) and probably best left to racing cyclists honking up (v v steep) dual carraigeways whilst out training.
