Red Rattler.
One of the few remaining first electric trains that ran on the Sydney metropolitan rail network was brought out of retirement as part of the 90th. anniversary of the service. Built in the 1920's they ran until 1992 and being devoid of air-conditioning had large sliding windows that could be raised open during summer. These windows would rattle as the train ran, hence why the common name of 'red rattler' for them came about.
Their passing was mourned by few as the air conditioned replacements came online.
