Casting Process.

The process by which these were made was not so slick as the lost wax technique that was being used by most manufacturers of high end frame parts by the 1980's. These look like the were cast in sand with parting powder between the two halves. It took quite an effort to clean each shell with those casting marks running deep into the thick metal.
