SS Canberra sails from Sydney for the final time - 1997. [Neg Scan]

P&O's CANBERRA, streamers trailing from her decks and what looks to be a "full house", is backed out from the OPT, towards the Harbour Bridge as she departs Sydney for the final time prior to retirement.

 

It was reminiscent of an old time liner sailing, with the OPT packed with people to wave her and her passengers off and the band playing on the terminal deck. Many people didn't know a soul on board but it didn't stop anyone from throwing streamers across to each other.
