This way was not the only reason for his departure from Colmar. The authorities of that town had refused Paracelsus the right of permanent residence and also did not permit the publication of a manuscript that he had just written. However, something soon went wrong at Esslingen, and for unknown reasons Paracelsus moved to Nuremberg. Here he got involved in the struggle to publish his work on syphilis.
