Tree Top Walk, Valley of the Giants

Valley of the Giants. The giants are the Red TIngle Trees - a eucalypt which grows to a great height but has no taproot so the root system is quite shallow. When the trees are attacked by fire or disease the trunks hollow out at the base and the tree becomes unstable. The Tree Top Walk was built to allow visitors to view these magnificent trees from above, thus protecting the delicate roots.

 

It doesn't take long to walk, about 15 minutes and you can go as many times as you like... We did three circuits, two when it was cloudy and then the sun came out later and we went round again!
