Lightrays exercise
Based on some older shot in autumn, edited first with G´Mic´s Simple Local Contrast-Filter and some cross-processing-effect.
I used this for exercising this lightray-effect in Gimp, if someone is interested, here is a short how-to:
-duplicate layer, set it to Monochrome in the Mixer and increase contrast to some black OR! white look
-erase all remaining lights that should not be the source of those rays with a medium brush
-Motion Blur-Filter (set to linear, length: 256, the angle is depending on the image) for creating rays, strong Unsharp Mask for strengthen them
-use the Perspective-Tool to get more length and for adjusting the direction
-Colors->Color to Alpha set to black, so only the lightrays remain
-Eraser to get some of the rays behind some of the the tree trunks, opacity for balancing
In the end I used some additional Dreamsmoothing-Filter from G´Mic.
