Isabelle St-Amour, the leader and organizer of the percussion group, keeps time with a whistle as she demonstrates how to correctly play the chocalho, a two-handed shaker set in an aluminum frame.

St-Amour has both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education with Honours in Music. She has been directing Samba Ottawa for the past four years.
