Shambles on the 60
In Sept 1998 a dubious outfit called 'Capital Logistics' took over London route 60 under competitive tender. Trouble was, they didn't have any buses or staff! So they had to sub-contract the service to Stagecoach Selkent (with some help from Blue Triangle). In Jan 1999 Selkent had to largely pull out due to other commitments. So Blue Triangle hastily put together a schedule to a reduced frequency and brought in help from anyone with a spare bus. On this day in January 1999 I photographed buses from Capital Citybus, Nostalgiabus (including an RM!), Selkent, Classic Coaches (High Wycombe) and Reading Transport. This chaos continued until March when Capital Logistics finally started running it - though almost immediately they got taken over by Tellings Golden Miller! This lasted for a year before TGM packed it in and the route was handed back to Arriva - who had lost it in the first place....
