Deep Water (Crater Lake National Park)
How far would you drive in one day to visit a National park? My wife puts up with some of my wild antics at times. We were in Portland, Oregon for a few days and had one open day to do whatever we wanted. I had a couple of ideas in mind (Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and this...) We ended up driving around 4 hours one way to Crater Lake National Park. This view is from a very famous point of the park near the visitor center. A short hike down some stairs to a carved lookout tower of sorts. It was mid afternoon and it was pretty cold for an October day. I was able to get a break in the clouds to get this angle of deepest lake in the United States. 1,943 feet.
