Avenue of the Giants
A 31 mile portion of the old Hwy 101 in Northern California is home to the giant Redwood trees. We hiked a few trails near the official Redwood National and State Parks much further North but this stretch of road was equally impressive. 51,222 acres of redwood groves in this area of the country. We stopped at a few places along the road to get better immersed in the groves. The Avenue of the Giants is surrounded by the Humboldt Redwoods State Park which has the largest remaining stand of virgin redwoods in the world.
