Through Personal Poverty

St Francis of Assisi decided to give up his worldly goods, however his enraged father locked him in the family dungeon. His mother let him out. He then stole and sold some of his father's best scarlet cloth to rebuild a small church. When the bishop told St Francis to give the money back, Francis is said to have thrown back the money and stripped naked in Piazza del Vescovado where this photo was taken.
