Incredible find this warbler season. The Mourning Warbler can be quite elusive owing to its habit of clinging to the dense understory. I got lucky here as this bird came out of the brush to sing it song. Did you know that the Mourning warbler removes the wings and legs of its prey prior to consuming it? The Mourning warbler got its name because the black throat patch of the male suggested to pioneer naturalists that the bird was dressed in mourning.
