Northern Shoveler (male eclipse plumage)

The light was soft because of the overcast light, and the background added some neat colors due to the turning leaves. Both of these factors welcomed "duck season" for me. This male Northern Shoveler, in eclipse plumage, stands out nicely against the autumn colors. I almost forgot how ansy ducks are. My patience will certainly need to grow this winter compared to shooting the shorebirds of summer
