Seven Weeks to Sobriety: The Proven Program to Fight Alcoholism through Nutrition by Joan Mathews Larson

If all it takes to quit drinking is a desire and willingness I would have remained sober years ago, saved thousands of dollars, wouldnt have put my loved ones through hell, and perhaps would be further down the road to being a contributing member of society. Why shouldnt working the program include physical well being too? This book has opened my eyes and Im going to give it a try. Ive been sober for 39 days as of today, and Ive had no cravings for alcohol...that is by the Grace of God. However past experience has taught me this isnt enough. I was tested for hypoglycemia when I was pregnant with my son 22 years ago. The tests came back positive, however I dont recall being told anything other than to eat three square meals a day. I also gained 70 pounds! I dont believe that diet alone will keep me sober, but if I can feel better physically when sober, my chances of remaining abstinent will make life far more enjoyable. Id love to quit taking Prozac (with my Drs assistance) and Id love to sleep through the night and feel rested without the aid of a sleeping pill. Ive needed help in both these areas even while experiencing eight years as a recovering alcoholic. Ill be in recovery for the rest of my natural life...thats okay and if I feel better by adding suppliments Im all for it! Of course Ive felt better without the vodka, but the chance of feeling even better gives me more reason to stay sober, and hope for being sucessful in my recovery. I dont want to die drunk and anything that will enhance my sobriety is sure worth its weight in gold! Im not on a pink cloud Ive been there, done it. To be honest Im scared to death of this disease. Its the only disease that wants us dead, and at this point the disease has the upper hand. Thank you, Joan Larson!
