Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones by Suzanne Somers
I'm bursting with enthusiasm and excitement: talking to friends in cafes, reading excerpts to family members over the phone and sharing with anyone who will listen all that I've learned from this book. Ms. Somers covers with precision, thoroughness and clarity the complexities of the human body, aging and our hormonal system. I don't typically pick up books on health. My mind says "Oh it'll be dry reading and too complicated" but Ageless breaks it down into easily digestible components where I feel I can walk into my doctor's office and advocate for my well-being. What I loved about Ms. Somers' premise is that the current definition of "aging" is antiquated. Aging does not have to automatically include the onset of diseases as a "given" for our future. (i.e. cancer, diabetes, heart disease or Alzheimer's). Aging can be redefined and include; an energy level comparable to that of our youth, a crisp mind and a vibrant libido. All that is needed is: * Awareness of your body (Steps to support this are throughout the book)* Awareness of this cutting edge medicine (Interviews with doctors, names and resources provided) I'm grateful that I found this book and so thankful that I listen regularly to the radio show "Being Here" hosted by Ariel and Shya Kane. On a recent episode titled, "Be As Healthy As Can Be", Ms. Somers' work was mentioned and I knew I had to get it. My respect and trust in the Kanes comes from years of enjoying their books: * Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: The 3 Simple Ideas That Will Instantaneously Transform Your Life* How to Create a Magical Relationship: The 3 Simple Ideas that Will Instantaneously Transform Your Love Life* Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment. The pursuit of well - being, internally and externally, continues to resonate with me. I'm so happy that 3 authors of this caliber are out there to help me on my journey....they're there for you too!
