lky03. March 2015, Mr Lee Kuan Yew passed away. For weeks, citizens paid respects, to their 'founding father'. Profoundly moving.
Each local district...constructed shrines. Everyone contributed flowers, letters and daily lit incense sticks.
City Hall...a hive of activity 24/7. With shaded walkways (erected by civil + armed forces all the way back across cricket grounds) channelled people day an night - past Mr L's casket Lying-in-State.
TV an Radio stations broadcast queue-leadtimes (intermittently a 7hr wait. even at midnight).
Water was provided (by govt) and chairs for the elderly during perpetually humid an hot days (30+ degrees deterred no-one !)
Internet sites hosted a gamut of personal and social memoirs - posted not only by mainland Singaporeans - but those O'Seas.
Collectively - businesses mourned. Signage (on front windows) publicly honoured his contribution to Singapura, and their gratitude.
Goodbye, Mr LKY.
