First York Limited (On loan to First Glasgow Limited) Wright Streetdeck Electroliner EV (Re-powered)
A white rose that’s visiting a dear green place….
First Glasgow have received around 20 vehicles on loan from within other FirstBus subsidiaries to cover for around thirty sickly BYD/Alexander Dennis Enviro 200EVs off the road due to manufacturing issues.
Possibly one of the more interesting vehicles on loan is this bus, 70101 (OIG1791). It’s a re-powered diesel Streetdeck that was originally delivered as First Solent’s 35112 (SO15CUV). Wrightbus has developed a bit of a business of re-purposing such buses, namely ripping out the diesel drivetrain and replacing it with an electric one. The diesel Streetdeck never really had a good reputation as a bus and perhaps repurposing it as an electric bus will improve that. Maybe.
Despite being a 2015 bus, it’s as good as new. It’s been refurbished and re-trimmed as well. It’s smart and the electric branding on the new First livery is really smart. Despite proclaiming its loyalty to Yorkshire’s largest city, its legal lettering is for First York. It also has no vault fitted so cash fares are a challenge….
