First Glasgow Limited Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini

Still hanging on…..

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the commencement of public transport by Glasgow Corporation Transport in 2019, First Glasgow repainted three of its buses in heritage liveries to represent stages in the development of GCT, the survivor of which is present day First Glasgow. Two B9TLs were repainted, one in 1960s GCT livery and one in the livery of Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive (GGPTE) and a B7TL in Strathclyde’s Buses livery.

Sadly the B7TL was lost to a thermal incident which totally destroyed the bus and the GCT livered bus was recently repainted back into standard livery. This leaves 37751 (SF09LMB) as the only survivor. I could say that it should have a sort of alpha-numeric fleet number (DV751 maybe?) if was being picky but it looks great.

With next year being the 40th anniversary of the splitting of the Scottish Bus Group to create new subsidiaries Kelvin Scottish and Clydeside Scottish, as well as the redrawing of Central Scottish’s operating area, maybe we’ll see some repainted into these liveries as what was Central and Kelvin make up part of what is now First Glasgow. It’s a thought….
