The next route to benefit from First Glasgow’s route branding is the 240 between Overtown and Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station. The style is similar to buses on the 9 service (photo here: flic.kr/p/JQFE7Z ) but using a vibrant light blue instead of the pink. Some of the buses are having route branding for the service itself on their upper panels but this bus, 67041 (SN65OGT) has reference to Lanarkshire Connect, suggesting that this style is to be extended to other Lanarkshire services.
The blue is very bright and is very similar at first glance to the blue currently used by Arriva on its buses, however as that group has no buses in Scotland since the sale of its Arriva Scotland West to McGill’s, there’s no chance of it being mistaken for one of that company’s buses. The livery style and colour is growing on me but on a personal level, I feel that the colour shouldn’t have been extended around the destination box. But that’s a personal opinion of course and it’s the case that the Enviro’s design may prohibit that.
