First Glasgow Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini

The start of something new....

Bus photography can sometimes involve being patient and waiting for that particular vehicle you’ve set your heart on capturing coming along, after researching which route it’ll be on at a specified time. It can also mean putting in the miles to organised events where operators and manufacturers will show off their latest vehicles and liveries. Sometimes however, it’s simply a question of being in the right place at the right time. This was the latter of the three.

For many days and weeks now, the chatter amongst the enthusiasts pages was that First Glasgow were route-branding some of their 07-plate Gemini’s and introducing a new livery. Well, it’s now hit the streets as can be seen here by 37203 (WLT770). The eagle-eyed will note that these buses have been refurbished (note the handpoles) and feature leatherette seating, wi-fi, new flooring and USB ports.

I must confess I’m a fan of the new livery style and the classy ‘Glasgow’ branding. This one is in pale blue 61 route but other routes will no doubt follow. The ex-Kelvin Scottish Routemaster registrations are a nice touch. This was formerly SF07FET.
