SNCF 141 CLASS 2-8-2 No. 141 R 497 drifts through Boulogne in 1968 with a freight train in 1968. Built by Baldwin, works no, 77300 in 1945, this loco was one of 1340 0rdered from American & Canadian companies under the Lend-Lease program to overcome severe motive power shortages. The first 700 were built in just 11 months! Of the 1340 ordered, only 1323 were delivered as 17 were lost when the Norwegian ship MV Belpamela was sunk during a violent storm off Newfoundland on 11th April 1947.
