I still remember the days when players on the pitch were numbered 1 to 11 and you knew exactly where each one was supposed to be playing! These days it’s all about squad numbers and Trent Alexander-Arnold has borne the number 66 since his days of graduating from the Liverpool academy. He’s actually a defender and a very successful one, but youngsters at Anfield are apparently given high numbers to “stop them getting above themselves” when they make the squad! Being a modest lad he has chosen to retain this number and it has become his trademark, or a lucky talisman perhaps…
