I am a day late posting as we had company on Sunday for a Canada Day get together. I also had no internet by the end of the day because someone in our family (I won't say names) decided to plant a couple of little plants against the outside wall of the house and while digging the hole they cut our telephone line with the shovel. Doh! Silly part of the story is this person had no idea they had cut it. Later on teenage son comes out of bedroom claiming there is no internet. Hmmm. Ok, well this is not unusual since we are country dwellers and crappy internet comes with the territory. I reset modem. Nothing. I check our phone line....it's dead too so, I call our phone and internet provider with my cell phone and make an appointment for a repair technician to come out on Monday, Canada Day. We then sit down to dinner and the police come knocking on our door. Apparently he was dispatched to our house because 911 claims our phone line called them but hung up. The 911 operator then dispatched the police to come to our house to make sure there was no emergency. We told him that we currently had no phone service so we were baffled as to what happened. At this point we still had no idea that our line had been cut. Satisfied that there was no emergency, the police left. We had no idea what had happened until the repair guy showed up the next day. I felt bad to have him come out on the Monday of a long weekend but he said he makes double time a half so he doesn't mind going to work today. I need to change professions, meanwhile, repair guy saved the day as the internet is now fixed which makes for happy teenagers. Luckily he never charged us for the repair. There is a reason why they suggest you "Call before you dig". :D
