Aspire

Aspire is the name of this statue, located Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC.

 

This is a great example of how I use speedlights in the field (and not just for portraiture). Notice the shadow across the face and you can get a good idea of the direction of the sun. That angle put the inside of the statue's wing and midsection in complete shadow. But two flashes did a great job at bringing out the detail here.
