1867 Male Magnificent Hummingbird (now called Rivoli's)
One of two adult plumage males Magnificent Hummingbird against a background of fall color. There was also an immature male at the same feeder. Santa Rita Lodge, Madera Canyon, 25 November 2015.
2024-25: Judge highly commended out of 660 entries in Photocrowd 'Hummingbirds' in April 2025
2017-18: Did not place in CAPA but scored 23/30 in the Nature-individual Competition.
2018-19: 1st in Class (Birds - others) and 3rd in Division (Birds) at Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Association 'Reflections of Nature'.
2020-21: Placed 64th and Judge 4th out of 1000 entries in Photocrowd 'Bird Portraits (no people) in June 2021. 'This shot stands out to me for several reasons, first, I absolutely love hummingbirds, second, the background contrast is phenomenal. Secondly, I have a trip to Madera Canyon scheduled later on this year, and seeing photos like this one definitely gets me excited about my upcoming trip there (it is not often that I see images at places I am able to access). I really like the balance on your picture, between the bird angle and the branch with the little stick coming up too. Wonderful image, congratulations on this top 10, to add to all the accolades this image already has, and thank you for entering into this contest.' Reviewed by Rodrigo Izquierdo
