LMR003 Driver Training on D5402 Olney
Another from my late father's collection. The Driver training was undertaken on the now closed Bedford-Northampton line. The Loco would collect any spare set of coaching stock on hand at Cricklewood, normally six coaches. The train would be worked onto the Bedford-Northampton line and two round trips done with a lunch break at Olney. The train would be stabled in the goods yard there. The train would run round at Northampton Bridge Street and Bedford South Sidings. The train would return to Cricklewood later in the day.
I have since done a bit of detective work and have found that the Lunch stop was made at Turvey, not Olney. A group picture was taken in the front garden of the former 'Railway Swan' Public House at the bottom of Station Road Turvey, and thanks to Google Maps I have been able to positively identify the location now.
