Tre Cime di Lavaredo II

The view of the Tre Cime form the small ridge to the east.

These rocks are really massive. You may get a sense of their size if you can find the little person right in the saddle of the ridge, to the left of the bright spot.

 

They are one of the best-known mountain groups in the Dolomites. The three peaks, from east to west, are: Cima Piccola (little peak, 2,857 m.), Cima Grande (big peak, 2,999 m.) and Cima Ovest (western peak, 2,973 m.).

Curiously, until 1919 the peaks formed part of the border between Italy and Austria-Hungary. Now they lie on the border between the provinces of South Tyrol and Belluno.
