Shadows, Spring Grove Hospital
One of several stone buildings no longer in use, apparently structurally unsound. Since the grounds of the former insane asylum are currently in use for the treatment of drug addiction and other mental health problems, I don’t think even Urban Explorers could get inside these vacant buildings.
In this photograph, I tried to suggest the fear I had as a child of Spring Grove, the place my grandmother died. Known then as a lunatic asylum, Spring Grove seemed to loom over me, dark and full of menace, a place where crazy old women like my grandmother went to die.
