- Image viewpoint is looking north-east from the southern bank of the Sweetwater Canal, from next to what is now called the Umm Kolthoum road.

- The El-Abbasy Mosque is claimed to be the oldest mosque in Ismailia. On old maps it is shown located at the intersection of Rue de la Mosque (now Mosque road) & Mohamed Ali Quay road (now Salah Salem road).

- The original B&W image is one of a series of un-titled real photo post-cards purchased by my late father-in-law Driver Tom Beazley, of the Australian Army 1/2 Movement Control Group, Middle East Headquarters (Cairo), 2nd Australian Imperial Force, whilst on leave in Ismailia, Egypt.
