Circa 1910 - "Murphy's boatshed east of Como Railway Bridge", Como, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia [colourized version]
IMAGE INFO
- This very rare view is looking north-north-west from Murphy's main boat sheds launching ramp, towards the floating ballroom & boat sheds that previously were built & operated by "H.C. Press & Sons" (previously of Woolloomooloo). H.C. Press's rowing skiff & ballroom/hall hire business was in operation at Como circa 1898-1906, after which they re-located back to Woolloomooloo. It appears the Murphy brothers continued to operate the facilities post 1906.
- In the background can be seen the twin garret line, steel lattice railway bridge crossing the Georges River at Como.
