c.1930's - "MOUNTS BAY ROAD APPROACH TO PERTH No.3", Western Australia (colorized)
IMAGE INFO
- Restored, colorized real photo postcard (circa 1930s).
- The Old Bazaar St wharves & jetties can be seen in right rear (near where Barrack Street jetty is today).
- The multi-lane Mitchell Freeway now runs left to right across where the Bazaar St buildings and foreshore in the middle of the photo were once located, onto the Narrows Bridge (constructed much later in 1959).
- The entire water body of Mounts Bay including the foreshore in the immediate foreground has been replaced by the Mitchell Freeway plus a small water feature & parkland, filling the space between Mounts Bay Road and the Mitchell Freeway.
- Most of the buildings shown in this rare photo have since been demolished to accommodate "more modern" structures.

SOURCE INFO
- The original real photo card (1 of 4) was purchased by my late father-in-law, Driver Tom Beazley of the Australian 4th Anti Malaria Control Unit, when H.M.T. "Queen Mary" troopship had a brief two day stop-over at Port Fremantle on 19 Feb 1943, before continuing on to Sydney, New South Wales.

PROCESS INFO
- Original photocard digitized using a Canon Canoscan 8800F scanner.
- Initially restored from the original pastel hand-coloured card using Adobe Photoshop CS Windows ( I removed the original rough daubs of pastel water colour, as it detracted significantly from much of the finer details that could ultimately be revealed in the B&W version of the photo).
