Rusted Root

Pattern: Rusted Root from Zephyr Style Size Small

Yarn: Noro Lily in lavender. I'm guessing about 5 skeins; I used a bunch of partial skeins.

Needle: US6 for body. US4 for ribbing

This is the unwashed/unblocked state and the hem and stitches are a little bit wonky. I thought the pattern was pretty well written, but I think the lace panel instructions could have been improved to produce symmetrical leaves. I made these changes after the second repeat. The instructions for my changes would read:

Row 1: K1, YO, K5, YO, (Sl2tog, K1, p2sso), YO, K5, YO, K1

Row 3: K1, YO, SSK, P1, K2tog, K1, YO, P1, YO, K1, SSK, P1, K2tog, K1, YO, K1

Row 5: K1, YO, K1, SSK, P1, K2tog, K1, P1, K1, SSK, P1, K2tog, K1, YO, K1

Row 7: K1, YO, K1, YO, SSK, P1, K2tog, P1, SSK, P1, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, K1

Row 9: K1, YO, K3, YO, (Sl2tog, K1, p2sso), P1, (Sl2tog, K1, p2sso), YO, K3, YO, K1

I also added increase hips stitches and worked the lace panel into the ribbing for about 10 rows (inspired by someone else's Rusted Root that I can't find to link to). Next time I would cast-on for the Medium size for a larger neck and follow the size Small for the rest of the sizing; I think it's likely I'll make another one of these.
