100 Strangers #14 and #15/100 - Nina and Grant

These are my fourteenth and fifteenth portraits for 100 Strangers.

After my first batch of dog photographs at the Old Warden dog agility show, I headed over to Kookaburra Coffee for a warm-up break. I noticed Nina at a distance and fell instantly in love! (those that know me well know that I have a bit of a 'thing' for Kate Humble!) Nina is gorgeous and a very pleasant lady and her partner Grant (despite being an Aussie ;-)) makes a mean coffee. After 4 trips to their wagon I was beginning to look like a bit of a stalker so I asked them if they'd be willing victims for 100 Strangers. Nina (same name as my mother) hails from Sheffield and Grant from Aus but now they operate out of Finstock, Oxfordshire.

Lesson identified. Ok now it's time to 'fess-up! I used only available light with a mate's EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II series lens that I had been using to photograph the dogs. But I changed the ISO setting from the very high setting I'd been using to catch the high speed doggies, to 100 ISO to take the portrait. Unfortunately I didn't check the other settings and so ended up taking 6/7 shots at 1/10th of a second!! NOT GOOD!! As such this is the only sharpish shot that I managed; sorry guys :-(

Lovely Nina and Grant thank you for the superb coffee and I hope you like your portrait; needless to say we are no longer strangers :-)

I intend to make this a 100 strangers in B&W with maybe the odd splash of colour!

This picture is #14 and 15 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
