100 Strangers #9 & #10/100 - Julie & Kari OMG!
These are my ninth and tenth portraits for 100 Strangers.
I had gone to the Fox Inn in Thorpe Waterville for dinner and had thought that there might be an opportunity for a 'strangers encounter'. The place was very crowded to start but at the end of the evening there was just our table and Julie and Kari left in the pub; so I went for it!
The ladies were deep in conversation and so I was a little reticent about approaching them and as it turned out they were a little shy about taking part.
Friends for about 12 years both Julie and Kari had traveled from Thrapston to enjoyed their meals; Julie had been there before but it was a first for Kari. After they agreed to take part, I suggested that I just let the conversation continue and that I would attempt to get a candid portrait of them. I think at this moment Kari had just said something shocking to Julie who let out an 'OMG'! I love the expression and gesture in this shot. I used only available light with my fast 50mm f/1.4 set at f/1.4.
Julie and Kari thank you and I hope you like your candid portrait; needless to say we are no longer strangers :-)
I intend to make this a 100 strangers in B&W with maybe the odd splash of colour!
This picture is #9&10 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
