S/S Aallotar (1937)
Travelling from Helsinki (via Copenhagen) to Hull in style in 1937. My restoration and colorization of a Finnish Maritime Museum image showing the Finland Steamship Company´s brand new S/S Aallotar. What makes the 90 m (LOA) ship particularly interesting from my point of view, is that Aallotar was built by Helsingør Jernskibs- og Maskinbyggeri on the opposite side of Öresund, seen from Helsingborg, where I now live. (The company closed down in 1983. The Maritime Museum of Denmark is now located there.)
