S/y Creole (1955)
Creole - the world´s largest wooden sailing yacht, designed by Charles E. Nicholson and built by Camper & Nicholson in 1927 - in Scandinavian waters in 1955. That summer The Royal Swedish Yacht Society celebrated its 100 year anniversary, and Creole´s then owner, Greek shipping tycoon Stavros Niarchos and his wife Eugenia arrived in Stockholm on board the 63,3 m yacht in order to attend the event. The original image - here shown restored and digitally hand painted by me - is in the Maritime Museum of Sweden´s archive.
The ship´s own page has a good summary of her interesting history: www.sycreole.com/history
