England: Biddulph Grange Garden: China gate, autumn leaves

An autumn view of the temple gate in "China," an area of Biddulph Grange Garden (Staffordshire, west-central England), on an overcast morning in mid-October (2008).

This Victorian-period garden, now in the care of the National Trust, includes sections representing different parts of the world and periods in time. In addition to the temple, bridge, and gate, China features East Asian plants brought to Britain by the plant hunter Robert Fortune.
