Along the beautiful Silver River in Florida
Being a native Floridian, I had heard the story all my life about wild monkeys near Silver Springs but only thought that it was a legend. On May 22, my husband and I decided to take a boat trip there, it is only 50 miles from where we live and we had read that the Silver River was beautiful. We were not disappointed, the water is crystal clear, flowing from the largest natural spring in the world. There were wood duck families swimming about or just resting on logs, lots of turtles, fish (no fishing allowed), and of course alligators to keep you in your boats. If you want to see Florida wildlife a trip along one of our beautiful waterways will not disappoint you. We just happened to be there at the right time to see the rhesus monkeys along the bank. It is very easy to drift right by them and not notice that they are there, as they blend in so well with their surroundings. The photos were taken on June 4, I hope you enjoy them.
