This is the site of the old Blackfriars Railway Station opened in 1864
Connecting Charing Cross and London Bridge Stations on the S.E.R. Co. it was closed down after Five Years when Waterloo East was completed
World War II Blitz damage along with a direct hit on Blackfriars Road by a V2 Rocket completely destroyed the area around the Stations old entrance
Joint grant and funding in 2005 restored the Entrance and a complete Glass Frame Structure covering the wall was put in place (Now Removed) along with a Commemorative Plaque
Not bad for a Station that was only open for Five years nearly 150 years ago
