Forester Residence

Architects: Christine & Russell Forester (1971)

Location: La Jolla (San Diego), CA

Russell Forester was a prolific architect in San Diego in the post-war period, and had studied under Mies Van Der Rohe at IIT in Chicago. He is responsible for many high profile buildings around San Diego in the 50s and 60s, including all of the Jack in the Box restaurants for the first several design iterations.

In his 50s, he gave up architecture to focus on his first love - art. He was an extremely gifted artist who left many public works (sculptures) throughout the county, as well as paintings and other media. He passed away in 2002. His widow, Christine Forester, who collaborated on the design and is an accomplished architect and artist, still lives in this house.
