"Operação treparriscos": sucesso limitado... / "Treparriscos's operation": limited success...
"Treparriscos" é o nome espanhol para a trepadeira-dos-muros (Tichodroma muraria), e o nome da expedição de busca e fotografia da mesma nos Picos de Europa, Espanha.
A trepadeira-dos-muros vive apenas em falésias na alta montanha, acima da linha de neve e é sempre uma ave rara e discreta onde existe.
Em Portugal é uma espécie de fetiche para os fotógrafos de aves pois, tanto quanto é sabido, a mesma ainda não foi fotografada no país.
Esta expedição durou oito dias. Os cinco primeiros dias foram passados no parque de campismo à espera que o tempo permitisse a busca. Ao sexto dia o alvo foi localizado pelo João Valente Caldas, meu filho e 2º membro da expedição. Os sétimo e oitavo dias foram feitos de escalada de falésias e longas esperas em abrigos improvisados... algures entre a loucura e o medo...
O sucesso foi limitado... conseguiu-se ganhar experiência, conhecer melhor a ave e os seus hábitos e apenas uns registos fotográficos muito maus. Mas fica a certeza e o alento para uma nova expedição!
Entretanto, nas longas esperas, foram-se apreciando todas as belezas que a Natureza nos dá :-)))

"Treparriscos" is the Spanish name for wallcreeper (Tichodroma muraria), and the name of the expedition of search and photograph of it in Picos de Europa, Spain.
The wallcreeper lives only in cliffs in the high mountain, above of the snow line and are always a rare and reserved bird where it exists.
In Portugal it is a fetish for the photographers of birds therefore, as I know, it was not yet photographed in the country.
This expedition lasted eight days. The five first days had been passed in the camping waiting that the time allowed the search. At the sixth day the target was located by João Valente Caldas, my son and 2nd member of the expedition. The seventh and eighth days had been of scaling cliffs and long wait in improvised shelters… somewhere between madness and fear…
The success was limited… it was obtained experience, better knowledge of the bird and its habits and only very bad photographic registers. But it is the certainty and the intention for a new expedition!
However, in the long wait, all the beauties of Nature was appreciated : -)))
