Pizza & Love - Pizza Box Design

This was a really fun work I had the pleasure to do. "Pizza & Love" (a Tijuana based pizza franchise) has been looking to strengthen their brand for quite some time now. Although we're far from implementing a full brand identity redesign, we're getting there step by step.

Now to the real juicy stuff.

Overall Look

The idea of making an all red pizza box was conceived since the beginning of the project, I knew it was the right way to go, but I still wanted to research other possibilities and similar designs that pulled it off. At the end of the research phase it was evident that all-red was here to stay.

Background

Now "Pizza & Love" has a great potential to exploit their name through various creative ways, you can go the "hippie and green" which connects perfectly with the current interest in "save the planet" and ecological movements. You can also go with the 60's - 70's music vibe and everyone knows how strong the emotional connection that music brings is, and how it can greatly help the branding. There are more alternatives, but since "Pizza & Love" doesn't actually have a strong personality established towards their consumers, it was best to present the aforementioned elements in a subtle but memorable way.

Design

The main idea was to create a groovy like graphic that complements the logo, enhancing the psychedelic nature of the hippie movement in a sterile environment. That is removing the actual message and meaning of the movement and just taking advantage of the beautiful imagery that spurned during that time.

It was also decided that for the information panels of the box (the sides) it was best to take a minimalist route. The overall look was thought as a computer interface, focusing more on icons than bare text. On of the inspirations was the new Google interface, it's a great example of how intelligent icon design can accelerate information assimilation.

Conclusion

The client was completely satisfied with the final result.
