I was going over my picture library, hunting for some "suitable" image to share with you, my dear Flickr friends, when I came accross this gem, and I thought to myself, how photography creates truly remarkable emotions! Take this image for instance. I remember setting the camera on my tripod, starting the 10 sec self-timer and running like crazy to place myself ready for the taking. I remember I could not quite make it, judging by the blur on my arms and head, and the fact that my shoulders were not straight, and my mouth seemed to scream "Wait! I'm not quite ready!". Still, it captured a beautiful moment that so powerfully evoke the beauty of that particular summer day. No wonder a company like Kodak became so rich, over the years, allowing anyone to be so creative with photography? I think it is the creativity that always get us in a photograph. Not so much the individual or the talent but the surprise, the sense of unexpected, of awe, that it creates in us. I remember when I was developping my own film in my basement darkroom, how I could not wait to inspect the film fresh out of the fix, as soon as it had finished developping, while hanging it out to dry... We came a long way. /// Je suis toujours agréablement surprise de la joie que je découvre au détour d'une nouvelle photographie. Comme celle-ci, où je me souviens d'avoir couru comme une folle, pour prendre place devant l'appareil, sitôt après avoir déclenchée la minuterie. Je me rappelle m'être exclamée "Non! Attendez! Je ne suis pas tout à fait prête!". Trop tard... Et pourtant, je m'émerveille de la beauté de l'émotion capturée, le filé dans mes bras et sur mon visage, le dos un peu arqué vers l'avant, et mes lèvres qui semblent dire "Zut?"... Quelle émotion! Ce n'est pas tant une question de talent ni de niveau de connaissances techniques, à mon avis, si une photo est réussie ou pas, il y a toujours le facteur "chance". Je crois que c'est un peu comme la loi des nombres: plus on prend de photos et plus on améliore nos chances de tomber sur une perle ;-)
