Microsecond Flash Duration

After putting together another flash head using the new yellow capacitor I decided to try and measure the flash duration.

I was kind of surprised at how good it was. I was expecting much slower as the capacitance is 0.5uF vs the Maxwells 0.03uF.

500nS at FWHM ( half power points) or about 750nS at 1/3 power.*

Pretty good. A few pellet photos showed minimal blur.

Cheers.

* I was reading Edgertons book on flashes last night and found out that he measured strobe duration at the 1/3 maximum points.
