Nutty Buddy
Spent a long time trying to get this one.
It is a fast marble hitting an iced treat.
For instance, after the first two shots, I realized that I could get a better shot by giving the ice cream time to warm.
So for this shot I set everything up and then waited for fifteen minutes for things to get softer.
The first round didn't trigger. Massive booger time.
High speed photography as I have experienced it is a lot about finding a good trigger and then loosing it.
I spent a few weeks getting perfect triggering from my old laser/schmitt trigger set-up. Then it all went away and I ended up with garage filled with sugar mess and no pictures.
So I once again spent time trying to deal with microphonics.
Crap. I am tired of vibration sensitive triggers.
One again, I am trying another idea. My "old" set-up used a laser pointer as a source. I am pretty sure that due to the small size of the laser on the detector, it is very sensitive to movement.
So I am trying to use a LED with a fairly tight beam. It seams to be less sensitive to wacking the set-up. And I did get some pictures.
But I have to say that all my triggering set-up so far are just works in progress and can fail at any time.
And our first tomatoes are coming up ripe.
Yes, good. My wife and I have been grafting tomatoes to get heirloom varieties to yield. the first to give a red tomato was a hybrid, but the heirlooms, both grafted and not are looking good.
Cheers.
