Twirly Water

So. I had wondered if the water path that a pellet had to take was long enough, would gravity become visible.

The answer is , Yes. Isaac Newton was right. The earth does suck.

The only cool thing about this is the spiral stuff from the spin of the pellet.

P.S. One of my co-workers has expressed doubts tthat the pellet is curving downward from gravity. I'll admit this photo does not prove it. Both pictures I got had a downward path. Does the spin of the pellet somehow pull it down? Doesn't seem like it should, the spin is symmetric. I'll stay with gravity until someone gives a better reason.

This was a damn wet shot. Number two of three. One had a failed trigger. And each shot I had to re-glue the end cap because it popped off.

P.S. A commenter P^2 has pointed out that gravity didn't have long enough to cause the downward angle. A quick calculation shows he is most certainly right.

So my whole carefully designed proof of gravity experiment is down the toilet :-)

Maybe its the whole Coriolis Effect? Just kidding.
